Like lots of people, I love fantasy books, especially stories with more than one race (e.g Hobbit, Summoner series etc.). This is probably my favourite book, and for good reason.

The cover of this fantastic book.

Good parts:

The idea is that it includes the journal of James Baker (it links to the first book #Summoner: The Novice), which gives you an insight to his life and findings. Within the journal, there are also 3 treatises which describe the habits/habitats of: the Orcs, the Dwarves and the Elves as well as their history with Hominum. The book also includes every known 'demon' in the world of Hominum. Demons are similar to the ones in "The Northern Lights", yet they are captured in a different world (known as the ether) and don't represent your personality. My favourite 5 demons are probably the Dragon (extremely rare, last stage of Salamander evo), the Gryphowl ( level 4, mix of an owl+cat, main character has one! #my blog avatar!!), an Oni (level 10, a red orc, with giant tusks 'n' fangs). I also really like the Halcyon, which is a level 7, is a bird with lightning around it and has high mana levels (mana is energy). As well as the others, I love the Leucrotta; a zebra-striped animal, that looks like an overgrown badger, but with hooves (#random mixing!). The book also contains spells, which are helpful in battle. It also contains a detailed sketch of 'Hominum'. Perfect for older kids (12+), and adults, it's a must have.

(Left to right, Graceful Gryphowl, Onimous Oni (#ha, pun) and Hardy Halcyon).

Bad parts:

The Summoner's handbook, may be really good but there are 1/2 drawbacks. Firstly, it costs quite a bit, £15.00 on average. Although a decent enough price, you could 2 of the books from the actual 'Summoner' series. The book also features James Baker's journal for over half, so if you prefer the demons and spells, you may be a little stuck, but the books only say about a few demons, and only writes about the spells, not a drawn out image. This makes it better for that sort of thing. Despite these things, you should definitely save up for this book, no matter what else you're saving up for.

Please leave comments, good or bad (preferably constructive criticism) to help me help you find a good book. #Keep Reading!!
