This is the second book in the Summoner series, and it is just as good as the first. This book sees Fletcher head of into the jungles to stop a growing threat of goblins: orc and gremlin hybrids. By now, Fletcher has missed a whole year of Vocans studying (as he was put in jail at the end of the first book), and finds that things have changed. Of course, there are new students (including Attila, Othello's brother), and new dangers. Fletcher also learns more about his family, and why he was abandoned.

While in the jungle, Fletcher and his team (Othello, Sylva and Cress-a new student) have to battle cassowary riders, goblins and get into the Pyramid: the most holy place in the whole of Orcdom. There, they destroy the goblin eggs, yet shamans and the albino orc come to stop them. The four students must battle as hard as they can to live, and then decide to go into the ether. If you have read any of the Summoner books, you will know that the ether's air is poisonous, but Fletcher has to risk it to survive...

There are only one or two problems with this book I think. The first is that it skips a lot of time at the beginning. The second is that if you take a break from these books after this one, or don't have the third book, it can be quite annoying not knowing what will happen, and you may forget a lot of the story.

Other than that, the book is really good, includes demonology and is perfect for older kids/teens. Well worth the money, you should add this to the growing stack of books!

This book's cover: Fletcher in a special uniform in the Orcish jungles.
